Flame of the Atomic bomb in Ofna kannon

Flame of the Atomic bomb

The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima brought death to hundreds of thousands citizens.
The flame taken from the conflagration burning in "deep-seated pain in memory" of those who were killed has been kept burning at Hoshino-mura Village, in Fukuoka prefecture.
This flame was lit from that flame and is placed here as symbol of our yearning or lasting peace.
To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 and 9 ,1945.

Keep the world in eternal peace without nuclear arms

In the closing year of the Second World War, 1945, Hiroshima city (On August 6 at 8:15) and Nagasaki city (On August 9 at 11:02) were completely destroyed by two atomic bombs thrown down by the American army airplane.
In the both cities some hundreds of thousands of the people were killed or seriously wounded with the momentary flashes.
The Cenotaph sacred to the memory of the victims of the atomic bombs were erected in April, 1970, after 25 years of the tragic events by the hands of Hibakusha, the survivals living in Kanagawa-ken , who were wounded and and are still fighting against the diseases because of the radioactivity by the a-bombs.
The Peace Memorial Towor was built in the grounds of Ofuna-kannon in August 1985, 40 years after the tragic experience by the Hibakusha for their sincere wish to keep the world in eternal peace without nuclear arms.
